About Us

Northwest Ohio CCW was founded by Terry Maris, a former United States Army officer with extensive firearms training and combat experience. He has devoted his career to higher education and served 20 years as a business school dean. He is actively engaged as an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor and an action pistol competitor.

Donnie Deckling is an active duty law enforcement officer (LEO) with fourteen years experience. He has unique credentials in that he is both a National Rifle Association (NRA) Certified Pistol Instructor and an Ohio Police Officers Training Academy (OPOTA) certified firearms instructor with qualifications in pistol, shotgun, and assault rifle. 

Tara Dixon Engel is an award-winning author/journalist and a successful business woman. She is an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor in several disciplines.

Ann Turner is a nurse at a major hospital in the area. She is an active trainer who has taught NRA programs such as the Basic Pistol Course and Women on Target. In addition to her classroom skills Ann is an excellent pistol marksman.

Marty Hauler, a Vietnam Veteran, is an independent businessman who operates globally. He is an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor in several disciplines.

Kevin Cieplowski is a program administrator at a prominent private university in Ohio. He is an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor in several disciplines.

Mike Jackson is a retired career U.S. Air Force officer who currently is a principal in two Ohio-based businesses. He is an NRA Certified Instructor in several disciplines. 

Dave Maris is a firefighter/EMT with an area fire department. He is an NRA member and an active pistol shooter and competitor. Dave has been involved in the shooting sports since he was five years old. 


Northwest Ohio CCW, and its affiliate, Southwest Ohio CCW, are both subsidiaries of the West Ohio CCW Group.
